This Wednesday city officials will be able to hear the input of their citizens about the plan for the cities new skatepark in downtown Dickson. After this the final vote for the parks design is scheduled for a week from Wednesday.
To help construct this new skatepark there is a bidding war between two companies. Spohn Ranch out of California, and American Ramp Company out of Missouri. The two companies are scheduled to make presentations of their design of the skatepark to the people on Wednesday from 5-7p.m. at the Tennsco Community Center. At those times the designs for the park will be up and available for people to see and decide which one they like better. There will be a vote set up to pick which park design is more favored by the people.
The idea for this skate park started back in 2019 after discussions began with city parks leadership and the city council. This came as a solution to the growing number of skaters seen in downtown Dickson. This is the effort by the city to give those skaters an appropriate place to skate other than the streets of downtown.
For designing and construction of the new skatepark the city has budgeted $300,000.
